Billet intermediate shaft should be in tomorrow, and accumulator block off plate by Monday. Transmission is out of the truck. Everything was clean, except all forward clutches were smoked (obviously, cuz I revved the shit out of it without fluid lmao). Mock-up case with transfer case going in this weekend to measure for driveshaft, then should be done by end of next week, beginning of following!

Long overdue update!

Been crazy lately between my office being super busy, buying a house, and dealing with a concussion lol, but don’t worry, Hoe is almost finished! A few of the billet parts were backed up due to Covid, but they’re all in now! Only waiting on accumulator block off plate, which will be in Monday. Transmission will be put together this weekend or Monday, driveshaft shortened next week, etc. At this point, we are looking at next weekend to finally be back on the road and tearing up some pavement with tire squealing 1-2 shifts!

Lmao let’s hope that doesn’t happen. It should be able to handle some NOS no problem, since it’s a fairly low compression motor to begin with
I’m assuming you have hypereutectic pistons and not forged. That’s fine but you gotta be careful. 2 steps colder plugs gapped at .020” and run your timing near 6° BTDC. You better run a window switch set for 3000-5500 because if you hit the rev limiter it’s gonna cut fuel and you’ll need that broom. An MSD 6AL box would be a good idea. Always run the highest octane fuel you can. 92 is good but 94 is better. Detonation is your enemy and I would never go more than 125, 150 being a maximum shot on them pistons. I’ve played at the track with my buddies that ran nitrous but I never did personally. They went thru more engines than I could count and spent more time tearing their shit down than they did running it. I would run at the track doing my 10.28 consistently with my blown SBC, put it in the trailer until next weekend and all I would have to do is put air in my tires for the next trip. In the pits, top off my fuel, adjust air pressures, check air in my air shifter and I’m ready to go again. They had to pull plugs and check condition, rejet their carbs for weather plus warm their bottles and still do everything I did too. Too much ******** and they weren’t as consistent as I was. They had a good weekend if they weren’t put on the trailer by the second round. But it’s one of those things, you get bit by the bug and your hooked. Best of luck and I’ll be watching for the burnout video.

Only pics I can find. That’s my son Jack who is 15 now so that was 12 maybe 13 years ago. Damn time has gone by fast.

Thank you for all of the advice! It’s funny, cuz I was just looking at a colder plug and gap it to .045”. Why .020”? I’m only going to be spraying occasionally, since it’s my daily driver. Is 6 BTDC retarding the timing? With the tune on my 0411, I have to run 93 octane, so that should be ok there, and I don’t plan on going above a 150 shot currently.
That’s a sweet car! What did you have under the hood?

I just remember gapping plugs at .020 with my buddies. Don’t remember why, I wasn’t a nitrous guy but I remember a few details.
I had a 400sbc with a little guys blower and dual Holley 750’s. When cam went out I built a 383 with AFR heads and same blower. It was a fun car. Sold it to a friend and he ran it a couple years and it’s been sitting in his trailer ever since. I could probably buy that thing back for $6k. I blew the 12 bolt so I put a strange 9” in it with coil overs. Trans is a TH400 with reverse manual valve body and extremely built inside. I split the case right up the center on a launch before the rebuild. Totally street legal but would be a pain with the tiny fuel cell that’s in it. I’ve thought about getting it again but I don’t need another vehicle sitting around.

I'M BAAAAACK!!!

Sorry for the hiatus ladies and gentlemen. Been a little crazy between getting married, buying a house, and taking over my practice!

The side hoe is finally home after a long overdue billet 4l80e build. Tracing down a wiring issue now that's causing fuse 20 to blow every time it's put into gear. Speedometer/tach and NSS switch are connected to this fuse. I've disconnected the gauges, replaced NSS switch, rewired 4 pin NSS plug that is tapped due to 0411PCM, and next is replacing that plug due to some potential corrosion. Any other ideas this could possibly be? Glad to be back on the Hoe wagon!
