I have a 2010 Tahoe 4x4 with the 5.3l engine. The error code P0010 and P0011 came up. Replaced the vvt, solenoid and the camshaft position sensor. Did not solve problem. Tahoe will intermittently start up but when it does the engine runs smoothly while still throwing those codes. I am still left with the timing chain, ECM or wiring. I am angling towards wiring because the engine doesn't run rough when I can get it to run. What do you think?

there's a few vvt threads around. I don't know. if any ever get fully resolved.

only thing I can add is did you use oem parts for the sensors and stuff. we see tons of bad parts causing issues. sometimes even oem parts bad out of the bag these days.

if you used good parts. I would personally start with wiring. at least check for continuity between plug and ecm pin.

Need more data. First of course is where the parts replaced OEM? Secondly, has its critical for the VVT to work properly..... How is your oil pressure?
Definitely check for continuity between the plug and the ECM. And definitely use a bidirectional scanner or a Tech 2 and perform a relearn.

Note the first code indicates an error with the actuator. The second code refers to valve timing too far advanced. My gut feeling is you either have a bad actuator, perhaps a non OEM aftermarket one, a timing chain issue or oil pressure issue. If you have continuity between the plug and the ECM it pretty much has to be one of the above.

Note: if the wiring tests out okay, and oil pressure is okay...I would get a genuine GM or ACDelco actuator, and do the timing chain, tensioner and gear set. The stuff that falls under the category of "while you are in there" logically calls for replacing the oil pump. (Which should come with a new o-ring for the pickup tube as well.)
Before you disassemble anything beyond the timing cover, verify the timing marks. Don't be surprised if your tensioner is in pieces..... And if the chain or gears are worn enough that it skipped a tooth..... Then you will have found your problem.

I have generic 5w30 oil in it with a new filter. Thank you for the information. This could be beyond my skill set. I think I will take it to a professional.
