VVT problem

I have a 2010 Tahoe 4x4 with the 5.3l engine. The error code P0010 and P0011 came up. Replaced the vvt, solenoid and the camshaft position sensor. Did not solve problem. Tahoe will intermittently start up but when it does the engine runs smoothly while still throwing those codes. I am still left with the timing chain, ECM or wiring. I am angling towards wiring because the engine doesn't run rough when I can get it to run. What do you think?

Yes the oil was changed along with the filter. 5w30.

there's a few vvt threads around. I don't know. if any ever get fully resolved.

only thing I can add is did you use oem parts for the sensors and stuff. we see tons of bad parts causing issues. sometimes even oem parts bad out of the bag these days.


if you used good parts. I would personally start with wiring. at least check for continuity between plug and ecm pin.

What oil are you using? Engine oil that does not GM Dexos1 Gen2 specs will sometimes cause VVT to malfunction. Dirty old oil can cause VVT to malfunction too. In my mind, that is oil that's been in the engine for over 5K miles.
