I want to say Super Chevy did a build like the one on Hot Rod. They started stock and then went from mild to wild. Naturally aspirated I think was somewhere just over 600HP, and then supercharged and TT. If I remember correctly, it was a stock 5.3 then opened it up to a 383 stroker, then added the different PA. I want around 500 in mine as well.

The high miles aren't really an issue. Just be sure to replace your timing chain and gear with at least an ls2 set. If you're boosting it, I'd run ls9 gaskets and studs, just to be safe. While the heads are off put a fresh set of ls7 lifters in it. All this stuff isn't "needed" but it will allow you to push it harder and more reliable. The 5.3 can handle 15+ lbs, but I'd run meth. Plenty of 500-600whp 5.3s...... I prefer a turbo over s/c. Check into KB Racing, or Trick Performance.

Definitely definitely, get your trans built. And fuel system upgrade.

If you want more info or lots of knowledge, check out performancetrucks.net. they will steer you straight. Good people there.

What problems did you have?

Sent from an ice cream sammich.

Belts mainly, kept throwing belts when lifting off throttle after WOT pull. Ended up getting a 10 rib pulley setup but that was another $1200. Then pulley alignment was off so I was tearing a rib off the front of the belt. Got that fixed and then had the normal problem with the magnason valley cover leaking. Pulled the charger 4 times before getting the "updated" valley cover from Magnasun. Had two bearings go out in the charger in the first 2500 miles and had to ship it in for repairs twice because they didn't get it right the first time. The list goes on, the only thing I can say is that Magnasun has stood behind their product and worked with me to get it right. They even ended up paying to R&R the charger the last two times, once because of the faulty repair and once to put on their updated valley cover.

My experience is not the "norm" for owners of a TVS2300 but I will never do it again. It is a beast now that everything is worked out but it took nearly two years of messing with it go get here. Running 11psi now and looking to bump it to 14psi if nothing else goes wrong in the next 5k or so miles.

I'm so happy that the 4.8 has that much potential. Definitely saves me some money when it comes time to do this later this year. I was always looking into a SC though. Looks like maybe I should research a turbo set up as well.

That definitely is surprising to me, sounds like you had a dud from the start. Glad that Magnusen took care of you, these things are not cheap!
