This happened to me. And then I had a problem with my power door locks. Shortly after I kept hearing this click, I would go to my tahoe and find the battery dead. Especially if I didn't drive it for a few days.

I took it to the dealer and they couldn't find a problem with the wiring. It has happened intermittently since and can go more than 1 year without occuring. But, because my battery has died more than 3 times, I just unhooked the fuse (I think it is #13 cig lighter) to the power locks and use the key fob to lock the doors when I need it. It still works with the key fob.

Now.....however, my key fob is broken and I am screwed.

There are a few relays located in that area. Have you checked them to see if it is one of them?

I have a strange clicking noise too...seems to be right around 45-50 mph and above. If I put upward pressure on the steering wheel, it stops. It starts again when I release the pressure. It doesn't always do it, just occasionally. Try pushing up on your steering wheel (if the road conditions permit) next time and see if it stops. This obviously won't fix anything, but may help both of us in narrowing down the issue. Also, I don't know if it's related, but I get an aweful lot of feedback through the wheel when turning or hitting bumps. I have a 2005, so I didn't think the intermediate shaft was an issue, but I'm thinking it may be time for a lube or new one.

no its tight it sounds more like a relay of some sort , im thinking ac it does not do it when the heater is on just when the fan and cold air is on !!!

my old silverado did that....underneath your dash there is a black plastic box looking thing with two holes in the far left side of it....put your finger or somthing in those holes and cut the fan on and move it from feet to head the flapper on the inside will move...if its stuck it makes a clicking noise. sometimes if it keeps trying...it will make that noise over and over again while your driving. not positive this is it but its def worth the try.
