I'm having some random codes appear and I fear it may be a warning of something bigger (like the ECU going bad).
Last week I left the car parked on a very steep decline (front of vehicle lower than rear) for a few hours. I then used remote start and the car idled for about 10 minutes before I got in and drove. This is when the Service Engine Soon (ses) light came on. I read the code w my scanner and it was a code that indicates the engine temp was too cold for the amount of time the engine was running. Possible causes- bad thermostat or low coolant. Made sense bc the coolant may have read as low bc of the decline. I cleared the code.
The next morning I get the "Check oil level" light. I checked it and it was at "add" on the dipstick so I added some. Light gone.
Today the SES light came on for code P0442- Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (small leak) confirmed. The last time I got gas was 3 days ago. I'm going to clear the code and see if it comes back.
What do you guys think? Coincidence, computer going bad?
Not sure if it's related but my tow/haul button no longer works, maybe the wire broke in the column and shorting something out?
