same here...had firestone install some hoses with blue labels...pricey but worth the peace of mind (and my mind is far from peaceful lol)

and FYI, the upper and lower radiator hoses were rotted out.

Glad you got it figured out!! So was it indeed leaking out of the hoses? Also, if not too late, would be a good idea to change out the heater core hoses while you are out it, cheap insurance!!

Not to hijack thread, but how do you get those hoses off? At the ends near the firewall, it looks like some odd clip rather than standard slip on hose with clamp.

They probably installed Goodyear made hoses, which are also highly rated. Ahh yes, inner peace...

Those fitting are a pain in the arse to take off, you have to find a way to squeeze the plastic exposed tabs together while pulling on the hose!! The firewall ones are no fun at all!

Oh man, I can just hear the plastic connectors cracking if I tried it. So if they break, are they easy to replace? especially the part that heads to the firewall? I'm cringing already. My yuk is 10 yrs old, and those heater hoses are still stock. I was only brave enuf to replace the big radiator hoses.

Dealer cost way too much. Would use them only as last resort. Independents around here don't have a great reputation, so i've doing most everything myself with the help of this forum, but i drew the line at the rear main seal. Sigh...
