Weird way to start

I bought this 99 Tahoe and wanted to know what you guys think. When starting you have to hold this wire - attached to starter relay under Hood - to metal while turning the key. I took wire from relay and wouldn't start without it.

probably a defective ground wire is the reason for that hack.

Either a wiring problem, or the previous owner installed a really ghetto kill switch.

No that's normal, I start mine that way too. Hahahha

Yeah, dude said it was a kill switch. I took wire off relay and wont start at all. Haven't had time to get under and really look yet
