Forgot to mention, I had the original driveshaft balanced early on while trying to diagnose the vibration. No change. Same vibration. Went so far to order a new driveshaft with yoke and u-joints all put together, which is what is on there now, and again no change. I am pretty sure it is not the driveshaft.

By the way, the small vibration that is there at times, I do not feel in the steering wheel at all. Driving down the road at the speed limit and the vibration comes and goes. It's not consistent. It's subtle, but there at times.
Just a guess, carrier bearing.

Now you tell us....not trying to be an ass but when you come on a forum and ask for help you need to be specific and you need to mention everything you’ve done to the vehicle lately even if you don’t think it has anything to do with the problem. For me, this entire discussion has tested my patience from the very beginning with the ambiguous description of the type of fluid causing the concrete to be “wet”. It took forever for you to tell us it was most definitely trans fluid, we were left to assume. Then there’s details like the motor mount and now the driveline that you forgot to mention. I’m wondering if there’s other details you have left out.

The frustration comes after so many responses. If I could tell any member one thing about posting a problem on this forum, it's that you should maybe write everything down before posting so nothing is forgotten. Scott, you have to remember that besides members here that do not or have not worked in shops, there are guys like myself and others that have worked in shops and know that something left unsaid because the OP thought it was irrelevant or forgot can make all the difference when we try to help. Your first response back to Mark about apologizing for forgetting to mention something was spot on but now you want to make a bigger deal of it all. It has nothing to do with your "presence" or "not being perfect" or "not knowing what is relevant" or "whether it was on purpose". When you went to the comparison of "psychological harm" and "life and death" some of that so called perspective was lost.

Mark is one of the guys here that helps A LOT of people but like a computer, "Garbage in and garbage out" will happen if Mark and other helpers here can't PRY the info out of the OP.

No one needs to ignore anyone. C'mon man! Let's consider it water under the bridge and just take a deep breath and let it go. We do want to help you know. We may experience the same thing on our rigs and can look back on previous posts to fix or ask the many many people here for help.

Believe me when I say I was trying to help you. Information you provide is directly related to the quality of help you receive in return. I started that off by stating I wasn’t trying to be an ass. But since you got butt hurt and decided to be a smart ass yourself..... oh never mind. Good luck.

Maybe the leak and vibration are unrelated. I would see if a new seal fixes the leak and keep chasing the vibration separately. Maybe put the joint into the rear yolk 180 from where it is now. Could it be the rear brakes making the vibration? Try swapping the rear rotors from side to side?
I dunno....

There is no carrier bearing on this Yukon.


rear diff carrier bearing? Our last tahoe had one going out and it was a "dull rumble/vibration" on deceleration, off throttle. not sure on the particulars of the op but i love guessing without having to bust my own knuckles!

x2 what John/thompsoj22 said. I had a chevy 2500 van that had a noisy rear end :(. When I finally did something about it, carrier bearing cap bolts were loose etc. Tightened everything and all was well.

Late jumping onto this thread. This is a great forum. Lots of very intelligent, thoughtful, helpful individuals trying to diagnose and fix a problem based on sometimes limited information. Hard to do.
The oil mark seems considerable so more than a light drip, more like a seep and it been going on more than two weeks. Oil spray evident on floor pan so leaks while driving. The exhaust may have burned the oil off but would still leave a deposit or stain.
Is it possible that this trans has been overfilled at some point? The indicated angle of driveway isn't severe enough for this much leak without a mechanical problem or overfill so I would level the vehicle, check trans fluid level, put a piece of cardboard under assumed oil leak area while level and see how much it leaks. If it still leaks (any), and the fluid level is correct, then remove driveshaft and replace the seal and check the yoke for any wear on seal surface.
There is no reason this should be leaking that much oil without seal damage or the wrong seal or a problem with the yoke.

When the correction is made, let us all know what was found. Helps others.

In my mind a carrier bearing is an additional support for a two piece driveshaft that is bolted to the frame. If you are talking about differential bearings then there is the side bearings and the pinion bearing and at the end of the tubes, axle bearings. Am I missing something about what you said?
