Took a video this morning of a cold start. It was 12-15 degrees out.

See the annotations in the video of the noises I'm wondering about.

The 2nd noise in that happens for a second I think might be the idler pulley bearings? They are pretty bad when I took the belt off you can feel the indententions the bearings made in the race. Would that be the noise? and with the below freezing temps making the bearings lockup?

Oh and you hear those lifters chattering like crazy?! I'm going to take the valve covers off and spray carb cleaner down the rocker oil port so it drips down the pushrod into the lifter oil ports. I'll do this when it gets warm out in a few days.

Here's the youtube video

That initial noise sounds like an oil pump that is taking a dump. And far as the pulley bearings get a mechanics stethoscope it will help pin things down real quick. What oil weight are you using btw?

Really you think it's the oil pump? I only heard that noise once. I was out all day running errands and I watched the oil pressure.

When idling after driven around and warm the needle is half way between 20 and 40 so around 30. Then when I drive it gets 1 mark below 60.

Is this normal? Also I use 5w30 regular Pennzoil it's not underfilled or overfilled it's right at the top of the hashmarks.

Thing drives and idles fine after its warm just sounds like a diesel in extreme cold.

Hmm come to think of it now I might have used a 10w because Walmart was out 5w30 in Pennzoil and that is the only brand i like. Not sure I did the oil change early fall late summer. It is almost due for a change anyway so I will make sure I get 5w30.

Im going to change it after I spray the lifters with carb cleaner anyway.

My yukon does the same exact noise for a split second right after starting during really cold mornings. I just wrote the sound off as a yawn. Id be interested to know what it is though.

I couldn't hear the noises at all but I will offer my two cents. My truck had the dreaded lower intake manifold gasket explosion, and before I caught it I noticed that on startup I got a good bit of valve train noise that would go away after about 30 seconds. I reaplced the gaskets and changed the oil and it went away. When my idler puller went out, it sounded exactly like road noise in an amplifier does. Really dull whine that increased in pitch with engine RPM. Pulled it off and could feel bearing movement in it. Replaced it and it went away.

Get a wooden stick put one end to your ear and touch other end any parts that has bearings in it
(Old school)way. It sounds like a bearing in the alt I have one on my dodge van & a newly bought alt on my Yukon that makes that sound.
