Technically those plate surrounds are illegal in NJ( What ian't tho). Obstruction of plate, even tho you can see everything.

Just like Wisconsin. I got a ticket for a string hanging from my rear view mirror.

Sure glad I don’t live in either of those states, if the cops are that strict I would have grown up in jail. I spent enough time doing that here, and they’re lax as hell. No way would I follow those stupid laws.
Edit: maybe would have just paid for a lot of tickets lmao.

Hey don’t you guys get the chance to fix your violations and have the ticket dropped? That’s the way they do most of the vehicle violations here, like tint, expired tags, etc. If you fix it by the court date, and prove it, the ticket and fine is dropped. At least they used to- I haven’t had a ticket in my state in over 15 years. The only one I got was in Washington about 8 years ago for 100+ mph in a 60. The cop said I was still accelerating when I got out of radar range. I paid the fine, plead no contest and entered a diversion program where it was dropped if I didn’t get another moving violation in their state in 5 years. It got dropped so my record is still clean.

pretty sure as long as its not blocking anything on the plate its ok. ive passed inspection with them. granted all of mine are thin framed.

NJ is not like that fix it crap. you get a ticket you pay it and thats the end of it. i got a tint ticket a few years back, paid it and that was the end of it. no showing the cop i took it off and getting it dismissed.

It's about the $$$ in many cities. Some departments allow the rookies to "practice" by shelling out silly infractions to "practice" the procedure of pulling a driver over and the process it entails.

Sh*t...... In the '70's, up north of San Francisco, my local cops would pull me over on a dark street & see who was faster: My '70 GTO or their brand new Dodge Monaco w/ a 440.

Yea..... depends on the Police Chief's orders from the Mayor's office.

In California, there is the Highway Patrol "11 99" Foundation that supports crisis for Trooper members & families. Decals & license plates. ( Saved my ass 3 times)

Florida I have the 'Florida Sheriff's Association' that supports Sheriff Youth Ranches. I have a decal next to my rear plate ( Florida does not require a front plate).

These are sort of a "Get Out of Jail Card" for the small stuff.... They won't even pull you over.

Here's a traditional ( and friendly) good-guy / I'm on your side..... To avoid a radar pointed at you....

Left hand on steering wheel....
You see a Cop, Sheriff or Fireman driving toward you... Left palm on steering wheel....

Open your hand wide showing your whole hand as a wave hello ( palm on wheel)..

99.99 % of the time they will wave back the same way. This is usually because you or family is law enforcement.

I do it all the time by habit. ..Automatic....

If a radar is pointed straight at you and you do the 'hello wave', they actually see that, and the radar lowers, and they wave back.

Having said that,... I truly "have their back"....

But it does work. I haven't had a ticket of any kind in 25 years. ( My dad was a cop)

When I was in law enforcement we got 10 a year, I'd give maybe 2-3 out and throw the rest away. I was actually a dual member of PBA/FOP.
