Yeah, I guess I just need to sand them down, and apply som adhesion promoter. Not sure if there’s anything else? I have tack cloth to pull the crap off before paint, and figure I’ll use rubbing alcohol to help clean up.

Not sure about rubbing alcohol, I've used denatured tho. Scuff it good, and use lint free towels.

If you do a search for @Rocket Man and @ivin74 on here you should be able to find their posts about this.

They both did some pretty thorough write ups.

@ivin74 gets the credit for this mod. I just found a way to do it a bit easier than his way. He posted a thread on the topic in the Tech section and after you read it, on page 2 is a link to my build thread where I tweaked it so you don’t have to do any cutting or welding.

Installed Yakima Timberline towers with 80" Aero Bars and an old Sears cargo box. Soon to be upgraded to a longer style Yakima box. I bought bars this wide so I can get a 2 Buffalo Canoes side by side. I do a lot of fishing on the rivers that are local to me from a kayak/canoe and this is going to become our camping rig/boat hauler.

EDIT: I did leave the factory cross bars as well just to use as extra tie down points.
