What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Little update: rig still shifting as described in previous post. New filter on order. Will cut old one open in a couple weeks. Honestly that's borderline concerning as I'm pretty on top of my trans fluid and do a pan drain / fill every 5 to 10k. It looked good, but I also know that the stock filter is more of a chunk catcher than an actual filter. In hindsight, I'm wishing I would have done an oil analysis to better quantify this stuff.

Ok. I ran out of LEDs so had to order more. Damn it. Well, took care of the fog light bulb:

I also thought this part should be lit up..

It’s got a clear film over it, but there doesn’t seem to be any light to shine through there..?

Anyway, done for now until I get more LEDs in..

Yeah, not too hard to do. I added a couple of LEDs to light that area on mine. Just tapped off of the backlight on the left side of the switch.

That would be nice, what type of bulbs did you use? This is my next mod.

I think I’ll do this easy enough. Could just hot glue the bulbs in there, and good to go.

That would be nice, what type of bulbs did you use? This is my next mod.

I have replaced some of the incandescent bulbs in my dash with white LEDs. Some are problematic to replace with LEDs (especially white ones) as the blue tint is molded into the button, and when you put in an LED the light gets tinted with blue. This is very noticeable with white LEDs. So, in some buttons I have replaced burned out bulbs with new incandescent, but where the tint is done with a bulb cover, I have used LEDs. All of the backlighting in the headlight switch is now LED as is the rear wiper switch, but the 4WD and fog light switches are incandescent. They match pretty as you can see the picture above.

Since white LEDs come in a variety of color temperatures, I tried several different ones to get the best match. I'd have to go look it up, but I think the color temperature that I settled on was 5000K. Then I tried different current limiting resistors (required unless using a 12V LED) to get the brightness to match the incandescent. Currently, I use LEDs for the instrument cluster, headlight switch, rear wiper, and rear HVAC controls in the overhead console.

Well, I was trying different ones and I think I bought from Digikey, Mouser and Arrow, but I don't recall where I got the ones I ended up using. I think they came from Mouser. I have also bought some 12V LEDs from Amazon that I tried in the HVAC controls, but I thought that the lighting was too bright and didn't match with the rest of the lighting. They also weren't available in varying color temperatures.

The advantage of the 12V LEDs is that they can be soldered in as a direct replacement for the incandescent bulbs, but if you use a standard LED that must have a resistor you can pick a resistor value that matches the brightness of the rest of the lighting.

Dropped it off for a complete suspension refresh with Moog upgrades. Front upper & lower control arms with ball joints, inner & outer tie rods, rear upper & lower control arms. Time to put another 100k on the odometer.
