2000-2003 require a new surround or make filler panels, and you have to cut out the brace behind the stock deck.

I have an 05 so I should be good. But the front of the radio looked big in the pictures. I had one in another truck. They work good.

I had to remove the rear metal brace behind the radio to make the radio fit. Make sure you we're some heavy gloved, metal brace is super sharp. I'm a beast, so I just ripped it out with my hands but you'll probably need a prybar or some other tools.

On all NBS trucks, you might have to cut the metal brace directly behind the radio. Some Double din radios are so big that the brace needs to be cut in order to fit the thing into the dash. Other radios are not quite as deep, and you can get away with not cutting that brace. But like mentioned, on a 00-02 the dash bezel will definitely need to be modified in order to fit around the radio. There are two other options if you can't modify your existing bezel. Metra makes a double din kit that includes a black paintable bezel for a 00_02 but it has the bigger radio opening like a 03+ has. But that kit is NOT cheap. The other option (and by far the most popular) is to just get a 2003+ dash bezel from a donor truck with the same color dash as yours. The AC controls will have to be slightly modified to adjust the mounts, but other than that, it's a pretty easy way to fit a double din in a 00-02.

I used a 2003 Denali dash bezel to do my DD conversion. It was hard to find a Denali one with the woodgrain but the others are on EBay all the time. Then you need a radio cage from an 03+ and like @ScottyBoy said you'll need to modify the HVAC controls slightly.
