Source for OEM Knock sensors and harness..? I've been looking around, and strangely, there seem to be more than one option. I found the sensors on Summit, $65 each: 12589867, and they don't seem to have the OEM harness...?

I also ordered a Gates water pump, p/n: 45006, as I had this in my Amazon cart as a -just in case / down the road item.. Now that I'm looking up part numbers, I want the OEM ACDelco pump.. And looking on Summit, I see Delco: 12703898, and 19195104. Both say they fit, and they look a little different.. wth..

I'll go look on Rock Auto. Hopefully that helps.

ETA: Looks like the 12703898 is the GM OE part, and does not include the thermostat. I'll get this one... On that note.. any reason to go with a t-stat cooler than stock..?

No reason to. Modern engines are designed to run at a specific operating temperature to maximize fuel burning. Sure, you can easily get away with a few degrees cooler, but why bother?

@Rocket Man @iamdub, do I really need cooler plugs, or were you just reacting to my quip about throwing an LSA up top...? I'd love to do that, but damn, even this "little" experiment is really piling on the cost with the nickel and diming of all the "supporting mods" and "while we're in there"..

I don't recall this ever being mentioned, but there's a lot mixed up in this thread and in my head. Stock motor (including mild-moderate cam) won't gain anything from a colder plug. BTW, you should start a build thread since you're getting all srs now.

Oh, and my 2nd vehicle I use to save a few bucks on fuel, since I'm now driving 670 miles a week, just to shuttle the kiddo back and forth to school... Oh, she gave up the head gasket 2 days ago. So I have to either swap the motor, or do the head gasket before I can think about getting the truck in the shop for the fun stuff. Not that 99% of it is here yet... lol

If there would be any benefit to cooler plugs, I'd be all for it, but assumed the reply was just regarding my LSA comment.. which, in that case would justify a plug change.. I did, however go ahead and order new OEM plugs (41-962), since we'll be replacing everything else in there.. AND, I was able to successfully order from Rock Auto @Fless, as they recognize my current zip code as a non-communist (mostly) Larimer County..

Boost definitely warrants a step or two colder. But, on a "stock" engine, it can lead to fouling unless you hot rod it all the time.

It actually wasn’t bad at all. I have been in auto collision for the past 15 years so I tried something with the vinyl that I usually do with factory decals.. have a bucket of fresh water and put 2 to 3 DROPS of DAWN dish soap… throw a brand new micro fiber rag in with it and buy a brand new plastic spreader… After cleaning the area you’re going to wrap very good with a whole different set of cleaning material you can then start to separate the wrap from the paper and just start soaking the roof with the clean water and also the wrap. This will let u be able to move it around a little and not just stick to the first place it touches.
Also I have done my homework and it is the exact same stuff that is triple in price. I bought the vinyl at hobby lobby it’s a whole lot cheaper and it’s the exact same product. Perfect for DIY projects.

ARP really is proud of those bolts... I ordered stock head bolts and crank bolt, if I have to tear this thing apart again I'm gonna be sad though lol.
I thought about getting the ARP main studs, but I might just toss these old ones back in...

Yeah after watching some YouTube videos and such, I've decided it's not for me - not for ME to do, anyways. If I do it, I'll pay someone, but given also what I saw about putting wrap over bad paint, I doubt anyone will want to do it. Apparently, I thought it would cover up defects, but it also can really highlight them. I will have to do some serious sanding and stuff to smooth it out properly if I do. <sigh>
