My Mountain Bike Carrier set up.

I'm brand new to the Yukon world. Just picked up at 2003 Yukon SLT with 240k mi. I'm coming from the 4Runner world, so it's a big size upgrade. Now, it's time to personalize. First up, figure out how to load my mountain bike. I haven't seen much of people carrying them inside, except for fully converted camping rigs. I need all 5 rear seats, so I wanted to do something that would set up and tear down easily. I set it on a track so I can load it on a side, instead on center, if I ever need more space. I think it will meet my versatile needs while remaining secure.

Still looking for an HD hood to do a Yukon conversion on. I found one fairly close, it’s even the right color so I wouldn’t have to paint the underside, but it’s got a dent right in the front edge. Anybody know if this is easily repairable from looking at it? I might have to ask my body guy. I’d have to cut the headlight areas out so there’s already going to be some body work on it.

If it's cheap enough, I'd grab it. Imo that wouldn't be a difficult repair. Like you said body work will need to be done anyway.

They want $300. I can’t even find a new aftermarket one, they’re out if stock unless I want to pay $800+. I’ve seen used ones in perfect shape on car-part going for $600+. I think I’ll ask my body guy what he thinks about it.

Nice! You could also possibly use the slide-bolt side of a latch like this... So you don't have to track loose pins. It could stay attached to the board all the time and not get lost. Not criticizing anything in the design... Just brainstorming.

Rear pads and rotors today. ACdelco Gold black hat rotors. They sent wrong pads, so went with local Napa pads. Forgot to snap a pic while the wheels were off, but you can see the shiny new rotor in the pic.

That's a good idea. I could have use a lynch pin with a little cable attached, too. I didn't even think about how these loose pins could go missing.

Took my 2005 2500 Suburban to a mechanic on Monday. Trying to figure out why half my cluster has no power, the power mirrors/windows/door locks do not work, the lights on the dash don't work, and Quadrasteer doesn't work. Also, when plugging into the OBDII port, they get no signal. My regular mechanic started at the door switches which tested out good, but just couldn't figure it out (he is normally very good; he also didn't charge me for failure!). The new mechanic was recommended by a friend, and he only had a 10 day wait to get in; my mechanic's normal electrical guy had an 8 week wait. This is my wife's car and she is getting aggravated...

Anyway, if any of you have ever had an issue where the OBDII port wasn't working, feel free to share.

I can't remember if I ever gave the resolution to this or not... My regular mechanic was not able to figure it out; on the advice of a local friend, I took it to a guy that specializes in electrical wiring for cars. It took him 3 days, but he found the wiring coming into the ECM rusted through, with several broken, sometimes making contact. He went to a junk yard, cut out that portion of the harness, added it into my Suburban: Presto-chang-o, no more electrical demons. Also, wife now hapy again... ;-) This was back in December, and ended 2+ months of unreliability for our Suburban. Bonus: I now get to harass my wife about driving through high water in the Suburban (it was only up to the wheel wells...)
