Just for more info.

Why spend $200 or more on an AGM battery vs sub $200 on a regular style battery or alternative AGM brand?
I mentioned AGM type and pictured the brand I purchased, I have two of them under the hood, sears used to sell the odyssey with there own label on it but they went with another maker a few years back maybe 5 years ago, there are a couple other AGM manufactures out there if you can find one for $200 less I say go for it, the odyssey run close to $300 pretty much anywhere

Reliability. I have a little sound system and routinely will leave the truck in limbo playing movies for my son on the headrest TV so the added reassurance and it being a deep cell battery gives me some reassurance if I do happen to drain it.

I've regular batteries have shorter and shorter lifespans, some not even lasting 30 months and that's infuriating to me.

Thx guys on this insight for me and others. Researching tonight and getting one in the morning. Wil update once it is installed.

A few rebates, % coupons and core charge that could make that decision and alter the end price a bit.

I know you guys don't care for Optima... and I am not trying to sway any decisions.. but I have had 2 Optima batteries... a yellow top in my old Esky and a red top currently in my Burb and have never had an issue with them.

As a matter of fact I bought both of them at a substantial discount from Advance auto parts because they were "used".

If someone buys a battery and installs it in there car and then it dies... because it was actually there alternator that was bad... they can bring it back to the store and Advance will replace the battery under warranty and sell them an alternator.

These "used" batteries get put on a charger, and once charged if they pass a load test, then they get sold as a "used" battery and sold with a 30 day warranty.

I cannot tell you how long it has been since I bought a NEW battery.

If there is something wrong with the used battery it will surely shows it's head before 30 days. I have never had to get a used battery replaced under warranty.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Some people try to knock them but I have ran them for a solid 10 years and I run a 4000 watt stereo system and the volt meter doesn't even budge when it I turn it up, no light flicker, never had a problem starting, they will outlive the warranty.

The story on Optima’s that I’ve heard is that in the last 2 years something changed and they’re not built the same way or something along that line and the new ones have issues. It’s all over the internet that the new Optimas are crap.
