Haha you got me on that one. It is 6 qts not gallons. But seriously though, what's the point. I get it, there are alot of enthusiasts here, passionate, whatever you want to call it. But if you change your oil regularly and check for spots underneath, then is it really necessary?

I see no need to. I don't drive like a mad man, but I get on it every now and then. A lot of city driving/stop and go. 157k and still no issues that I know of regarding oil consumption. I add about a qt after 4k miles when the light tells me low oil and then change it at 5k. It's been like that since I bought it at 60k miles.

Not trying to argue, just honestly see no real benefits of it besides personal preference/gratification.

Here's my thing.... And you said it yourself.
"that I know of". How would you know if you don't check? If you're getting a light ...
1. You're obviously consuming or leaking oil at some rate.
2. You're WAY low.
That's a dummy light for a reason. It's not saying "hey you're down a little" it's saying "hey! You're causing damage"

Do you keep track of how much you take out when you do change it? I'm betting it's 4.5 qts at best (even with your makeup qt) if you're getting a low oil message.

Not arguing, either, but my heart is hurting for your truck.

If you don't use the dipstick, how do you know how much to add when the low oil light comes on?

ya, I didn't see that part, my nbs used a little bit of oil with the first engine, I neglected once to add a qt after about 2k miles, when the low oil light came on to remind me I was 2qt low

Speaking of oil- i changed mine yesterday. Got the updated drivers side valve cover installed too. I just bought this about three weeks ago- an 07 Tahoe LTZ. It burned about a quart every thousand miles so hopefully with this new valve cover it wont be sucking as much thru the PCV.

Who cares. All I know is I’d never buy a used vehicle from you.
So you wouldn't buy a vehicle from me because I follow basic oil changing guidelines? That sounds kinda silly. 3-5k change your oil and filter. Unless you know something different, seems kinda silly. Because I am not a guru or enthusiast, you assume I'm a bad vehicle owner? I follow almost all basic guidelines and what the manual says to do.

And if you are buying a used vehicle, unless you get a certified dealership vehicle or someone who can prove with receipts what has been done and serviced you are taking a risk.

I'm not perfect and or that knowledgeable with vehicles tbh, but I follow the basic guidelines of the manual and what I know needs done. Have I made mistakes or missed something, of course. But everyone does. Hell, I am in love with your crewcab, but it still has issues. So does that make you a bad owner? Of course not.

Just because I don't check a dipstick doesn't mean i'm a bad owner. Come on man.....
