That's my youngest boy. He's like me, loves to figure things out. If i'm outside working on something, he will be right next to me learning and helping. He was excited to lend a hand and watch what was going on.haha As for my wife, she knows and loves that i am able to do this stuff. She was just glad I finally cleaned out the hole thing and get ride of that smell so she can ride in it. lol. I still have a small list of things to do so i'll try and update with pics as I go along for anyone that is interested. Always willing to help out anyone that has questions on what i've learned so far.
Speaking from experience--enjoy your time with your son, they grow up wayyyyy too quick.

@Californian you’re a blessed man!! A son with patience, willing to learn and a wife who’s okay with the tear down and rebuild....WIN WIN WIN-SCORE!!!

It’s always a good feeling to work with your hands, gather knowledge, apply it and pass it on with these vehicles. Having knowledgeable forum members willing to share makes it all easy to acquire and repay the favor by helping the next group of new owners.
Amen to that brother.

It was going out months ago when your gauge was acting funny....;)
hmm, I guess anything is possible, weird that I never got a service charging system message even after it was doing nothing, must be because the AGM'S were still putting out 12.29v, the security system is more sensitive to voltage and gives me a warning,

Received my 8 meter cable for the dashcam rear camera today (the 6 meter it came with wasn't long enough), so I wired up and mounted the rear camera.

The 6m might've worked if I ran it on top through the headliner, but I didn't want to mess with the airbags.

I ordered an 8m one and ran it across passenger side tucked into headliner and down the A pillar (only airbag I had to deal with) and down to the kick panel. Then back under the door sill trim pieces to the rear 3rd seat and cargo area where I tucked it under the trim plastics. Once to the rear I pulled the pieces off across the top of both the interior and liftgate, and in the corner where the speaker is. I ran the cable up the rear corner then across the back of the headliner and through the rubber boot that houses the wires going to the liftgate. I filed a notch in the backside of the liftgate top trim piece for the cable to come through and attach to the camera which is mounted on that trim piece right behind the glass.

This leaves no big cable loops and allows the camera to raise with the liftgate, but stays put when the glass is raised.d9c983f83a2cea6c7015cbc1a5ba9caa.jpg5b3b91500062aa9d5086b60d47f1e5ad.jpg

I got an aukey dash cam for my 07 and am very impressed with it. I just shoved it on top of the kick pannel under the HVAC duct, and then snuck it up the passengar side pillar trim. I ran power just to a usb cig adapter. Also have a phone charger. Aside from jumping LED DRL bulbs to be switched with the fogs, the dashcam is my only mod.

I have a few mods in the works. But between the weather, family vacation, my wife's soul crushing social calendar and a bunch of home improvement projects going on, I've had no time. So yesterday I knocked out one of the smaller projects:

Smells much better now.
Yeah, hardest mod ever, glad you got that one done. How did you hang it? Any pics of the install process? :)
