I just didn't expect CHINA on something as important as the wheel casting.

A lot of casting work has been shipped overseas due to less stringent environmental laws. Where I work, we have been seeing the steady and systematic decline in casting houses here in the states which is allowing the remaining ones to ratchet up prices due to supply and demand. With the proper quality checks, you can get good castings out of China. The key is investing in the proper quality checks and visiting the supplier on a regular basis.

Yeah. I know. I just didn't expect CHINA on something as important as the wheel casting. The center cap, sure (and they are).
china's natural resources are made to make wheels
China has extensive deposits of coal, oil and natural gas. Besides these fossil fuels, China is a top producer of aluminum, magnesium, antimony, salt, talc, barite, cement, coal, fluorspar, gold, graphite, iron, steel, lead, mercury, molybdenum, phosphate rock, rare earths, tin, tungsten, bismuth and zinc.
a trade war with China is sadly a loosing battle, we are the biggest consumers but that doesn't matter we cant take there toy away and put them on time out.
And they have the worlds largest population of MEN to do there work, they are positioned very well, family's only allowed to have 1 child of course chose a boy.

i'm not being an alarmist but they could retool there factory's faster than we could make one, it's just reality
*perhaps the only thing that keeps major powers in check is nuclear power and we have already shown we can and will use it.

Exactly. All this combined with, like you said, “less stringent” as in nearly nonexistent environmental laws make China the perfect place to manufacture anything that makes toxic waste as a byproduct like castings do. Companies that make parts there either contract out the work with very little oversight or QC in order to compete with the super cheap parts ( Dorman or even worse) or else they work closely with the plant and have their own employees there doing QC on a regular basis, which allows them to make quality parts way cheaper than they could in the US. Just because parts are made in China doesn’t mean they’re any less than the highest quality parts made here. It’s cheap labor, plentiful natural resources, lax environmental laws etc that make the parts cheaper.

Google factory's in China . There light years ahead of us . Its been like that for years .. I seen press tools made in China . Think of it this way they have unlimited labor . More people . We think we need 3 engineers in a company. China would have 15 . We never get our heads around what China could do if they decide to . They could just invade us just with millions of soldiers and win . And now they can just cut off trade and our economy would be screwed. We are not tooled to make anything compared to them . Corporate America made it that way. [emoji41][emoji106]
