Exactly. All this combined with, like you said, “less stringent” as in nearly nonexistent environmental laws make China the perfect place to manufacture anything that makes toxic waste as a byproduct like castings do. Companies that make parts there either contract out the work with very little oversight or QC in order to compete with the super cheap parts ( Dorman or even worse) or else they work closely with the plant and have their own employees there doing QC on a regular basis, which allows them to make quality parts way cheaper than they could in the US. Just because parts are made in China doesn’t mean they’re any less than the highest quality parts made here. It’s cheap labor, plentiful natural resources, lax environmental laws etc that make the parts cheaper.
