Not actually today but in the last week:

Drove to the Bay Area and found out the day prior to driving 500+ miles home that the wheel bearing was shot. Actually both. (Just thought I should mention that it was making noise for about 2 months prior. I thought it was just the new tires)

Anyway got one replaced there and the other the day after I got home. Amazing how much better it drives.

Also hit 70K miles. Now to change the brake w this weekend

On my old s10 I went thru more than my fair share of wheel bearings. They were tapered roller trailer style bearings built into the rotors. The heavy tires and stiff suspension combined with heat of the super aggressive brake pads I ran killed them a lot. Though one did fall victim to a nasty pot hole. :/

I think it was last week I posted my dash starting to crack.. well we had a big cold front just sweep across CO, like 60 degree drop in less than 12 hours which did my dash in. It was 80 degrees at noon, 65 degrees by 4:30, and overnight went down to 18 degrees. That was too much for the dash...

I'm sure that makes it worlds easier. I'm also curious how hard it would be to do a 6L80e swap. I'd think it would be harder given the lack of (if I recall correctly) physical shift linkage- different cluster, presumably different computer?

A buddy (more like pen pal) of mine did it on his '07 Silverado Z71. It works fine, but doesn't have the tap shift column or proper gauge cluster. I believe he just had to add some wires for the computer in the trans and upload the proper tune. I want/need the extra gears so badly but I also want/need manual control and for the proper cluster to be functional- basically full factory operation.
