Started to lose oil pressure, and knew I already had a slow drip out of the rear main and the dreaded piston slap. Also knew the transmission was not as crisp as I'd like...so it was time. Figured I could do a few tweaks to the engine internals (better lifters/pushrods/springs/pistons/etc, different cam, port and bowl work on the heads etc...) while fixing the broken engine mounts, rear main leak, sluggish transmission, etc. Don't fear the engine work...that I'm comfortable with. Just don't ask me to bondo and prep the body on any of your vehicles. Don't mind laying down the color, just need practice on the prep work stuff. Other than that, it's easy! Looking for another 130k out of it...and I'll consider the money well spent. Why all the engine work?
Looking forward to getting it back up and running again, so I can focus on the K5 (rebuild the front diff kingpins and tie rod ends...then practicing that body work nonsense so I can finally paint it, new weather stripping, and then get the interior back in). But that's a different truck for a different forum.
