Ummm left is always the driver side and right is always the passenger side.

What if you are standing in front of the truck facing it, like while leaned over working under the hood?

It's always better to refer to DS/PS instead of L/R because it can cause confusion, kind of like Port and Starboard on a boat/ship. They have those terms for a reason.

Along those same lines, we should also define a standard for WTF "turn over" means. Does it mean that the crankshaft spins when the starter engages the flexplate or flywheel? Or, is it referring to the engine actually firing up after being spun by the starter? Some people say "the engine turns over but doesn't start" while others say "the engine cranks but doesn't turn over". Personally, I'd rather just banish the term from the database.

I understand but people who say left but mean right are the ones who drop their cars off to get worked on. Left is always driver side and right is always the pass side for LHD cars.

If an engine turns over it’s upside down!

Agreed... "turns over" means the engine spins and isn't seized up, at least that's what it means to me.

"Turns over but doesn't start" indicates to me that the starter is functional and is engaging the flywheel and the engine spins freely but won't actually start and run.

The English language is funny.
