That's near where I put mine. There was a small factory hole that I mounted the bracket to, and a larger hole just in front of it I could stick my hand in and reach the back of the bolt to hold a nut on.

The battery shelf comes in handy when draining. Mine has a small ball valve at the bottom and I just place a small butter tub underneath and let it drain while I'm changing the engine oil. 0b63a5d513801719af5576f6c82f9a40.jpg815bc0be9d2a0f1578a409bef0b62372.jpg

Have a drain valve in the bottom of it? If you haven't already, I recommend cramming a stainless Scotch-Brite scrubber in there. It'll increase the can's effectiveness. Of course, with the scrubber in there, you don't want to have to unscrew the reservoir to drain it, so a 1/4-turn ball valve in the bottom like what @gooffeyguy has would be really convenient.

It has the provision for adding the fittings for a valve.. I plan on doing it soon, Figured I would get it in, then add the valve and scrubber on next oil change... Plus it gives me a good benchmark for how effective it will be with scrubber and without...

No testing necessary- the more coalescing media it has, the more oil it'll catch. It's not like an air filter into the engine where you have to maintain at least a minimum amount of flow. You wanna filter as much as possible, even if it presents a decrease in air flow volume. You can't filter it too much and a loss in flow won't affect anything.

Mine consistently caught 2 ounces every 5,000 miles. After the scrubber, 3 ounces consistently.

I put one in on the vette on my avatar.
Was just an empty can, but cheap and fits a morso clamp.

Built my own baffles and put one of those scrubbers at the bottom.
Used a tube from the valve cover side to ensure the oil gets to the bottom of the baffles and would need to make its way up.

In the vette, #2 cylinder likes to get all gunked up with carbon, and a nice oily streak down the intake runner to that cylinder...
Fixed the issue with the catch can...
I'm sold on the idea afterwards.
It always catches nice dirty oil and water.

Not wanting to re-research the thing i bought the same thing for the hoe.
I'm not quite there yet but it did wonders for the vette, and since i have the engine totally clean i figure i might as well keep it that way.

On the vette i just remove the canister from the clamp and drain, but i'm looking at some method to easily drain it since that's a pita.

I thought it was 1/4in npt, but it's apparently something else...
glad i own a drill and a tap set. :D
