Well, i decided to do my 500 mile oil change post new camshaft, lifters, oil pump, rebuilt rockers, and timing chain.

I bought one of those oil filter cutting tools...
Noticed my somewhat clean drain pan showed the same brass colored sparkles that i saw before this all started...

so i cut open the filter,

Engine sounds great, much better after i replaced everything.
Maybe I'm loosing a crank bearing?

:banghead:

Originally i thought maybe it my camshaft was going, or a cam bearing.
but i didn't see any signs of that when i did the dod delete.

Might want to get a Blackstone oil report.

The oil was very sparkly brass colored, just from the pan alone.
The image i posted was from the filter as to rule out any delusions i could have that the drain pan was just dirty or something silly.

Not looking promising.

If a main bearing, i don't want it killing the trans bearing too...

ugg.

58x reluctor wheel on these right?

Just searching for somewhat easy options to get this fkn thing ready to haul a damn boat this spring. :jester:

Way overkill, but Mmmm: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hpe-sp96-g4
And i totally don't have 4k right now.

I think you can do a lot better than $4K for a short block. :0

Frankly, given all the new stuff you already have in it, if you have a decent machine shop nearby, just pull it, mount it on a stand and rebuild it yourself. These are pretty simple engines.

I sliced a chunk out of my filter, had some little pieces but with a new camshaft and lifters, it looked pretty good.
And those mobile one filters are pretty stout!

the little sparkles what ever they are, appear to be small enough to pass through the filter.
And they do not appear to be magnetic in any way.

took the hoe around the block again, got the rpm up pretty high with the oil pressure gauges pinned. :D

damn thing sounds just perfect, so in another 500 miles or so I'll replace the filter and cut it open again.
Maybe do a black stone thing at the same time, or wait for another 500 after that to ensure i get a good reading.
