Playing with my new to me engine hoist, looks like the jack piston (handle side) is leaking quite a bit.
Noticed after draining some old fluid, topping it off and bleeding out the air.

I have some fluid with "stop leak" in there, left it over night in a position where it's not pouring out.

If it's still leaking I'll try some new random o rings to see if i can atleast slow it down.

I want to replace the ram with one of those pneumatic assisted units anyways, but i would prefer to do it later... lol

Can it be taken apart? Or is it one of those sealed units--the jack piston.

It can be totally taken apart.
And i did find a seal kit for about $25 if i want to do the whole thing.
Found some videos on youtube talking about it.

However, a jack only costs $50
A pneumatic version less than $100...

I also did pull the jack piston out last night, bleed out a bunch dark fluid. Lol

I saw a long looking o ring seal on there.
I bet i can support it with a single o ring or try a stack of em.

poor doggy, we had a rather large Siamese tom cat that like to get up in the engine compartment and sleep one morning my dad went out and started the jeep and fur flew out from under the hood everywhere, cat took off like a bat out of hell and ran off, he finally came back about 3 days later and one whole leg was shaved off down to the muscles, he survived but dam animals.
Durn! I’ve had her just over a year, but with all the shit that happened in my life last year, she’s like a therapy dog.

For me, all dogs are therapy dogs.

With probably the best dog we ever had, I spent a lot of time on the road with her trying to save her. She loved to travel in the Yukon.

Our country vet gave her 6 months from when he first diagnosed her cancer. 16 trips back and forth to UC Davis Vet hospital for surgeries, chemo, radiation, etc., we lost her exactly 6 months after she was first diagnosed. Sometimes nothing works.

DLM.
