trying to decide on a color for the new engine.
Choices so far,
Black
Silver
Black metallic

I vote silver. It would help brighten things up in there for future engine bay work and maintenance. My last Suburban I had I painted the entire undercarriage silver. Made a huge difference. Actually made it more pleasant to climb under there to fix shit. Looked good too.

And i tossed my rockers into the sonic cleaner loaded with mineral spirts and a magnet at the bottom.
So yeah, i got some metal in those rockers...

doing my best to flush the bearings out.
I really don't want to spend another $150 doing it all over again.

I got my brand new cloydes timing chain in there now...

I was hoping to see my new block today, it's going to be a nice weekend in the 60's apparently.
Perfect to degrease the new block and apply some new paint.

But now it looks like if I'm lucky, next weekend will be nice.

Oh well, i can't order pistons and stuff till next month/weekend anyways.
Then I need to verify where the top of the piston sits at tdc, then off to the machine shop for a balance and crap.
