I was hoping to see my new block today, it's going to be a nice weekend in the 60's apparently.
Perfect to degrease the block new and apply some new paint.

But now it looks like if I'm lucky, next weekend will be nice.

Oh well, i can't order pistons and stuff till next month/weekend anyways.
Then I need to verify where the top of the piston sits at tdc, then off to the machine shop for a balance and crap.

ugg.
Wouldn’t it be easier to paint after it’s partly assembled..? I’d rather tape off a few openings, than a shitload of them..!

been going back and forth on that one.
Main thing is i don't want to paint the new seals.
This time around i'm reusing a bunch of them like the valve covers.

So i was leaning towards some fancy auto body tape, a razor blade, and some Excedrin. :D

I don’t really understand what it’s for. Why not use assembly lube, or even motor oil..?

Apparently you rub it into the cylinder wall, and it helps the rings seal from the first start, into actual ring seat.

It's a little expensive, and i'm not sure if yer supposed to use oil with it also...

Man, if I were building a brand new motor, block-up, I wouldn’t be reusing anything, except maybe a badass crank.. or if I had some new heads, etc..

You have no idea how much i agree with ya.
But i over spent on this one.
And the trip to the coast the wife and i had planned.
Well the place we rented is 2k for the week.
And it was supposed to be shared with 4 groups including us.

Well they all bailed leaving us with the bill.

so we have a beach house for the weekend all to our selves.
But wait, the wife invited her sister and kids.
so i get to drive the hoe.

Hoe also gets a new air conditioning compressor and drier.

$$$ i need. :D
