Interesting. Odd decision for GM to close-up the air filter location and that many truck owners don't even know an air filter slot exists (once they cut into the assembly).

I've not noticed any dust or odors in my truck, so while the idea of filtered air seems like a good one, I'm not sure I'll see any benefit after spending the $$ to do this cabin filter mod. In my case, it just might be a solution without a real problem.

I figure less dust is less dust. Also, the pollen in the spring when my allergies are getting going. I figure it can't hurt.

If you use air fresheners, it would be a way to do so without having the tacky shit hanging from your mirror or the cups of stuff under your seats. My girl had a car a while back that had a cabin filter. The smell of a certain dryer sheet (one of the Bounce scents?) was calming to her because it reminded her of her grandma's house. She would lay a dryer sheet over the cabin filter and reinstall it. It wasn't overpowering so you weren't hit with a wave of artificial scent every time you opened the car after being closed up for a while. Just a light, airy scent that was wafted only when the A/C was on, and with filtered, pollen-free air at that.

My Tahoe has no air fresheners and I'd like to keep it that way for as long as possible. It smells like what it is in there- lightly aged automotive leather, plastic and carpet. If it ever needs "help", I'll likely add the filter and dryer sheet of her choice.

I don't suffer allergies, and my truck's interior smells like nothing----literally no smell---which is great. I use an activated-carbon style air purifier product that absorbs pollutants, odors, moisture, etc. It really works. All you have to do is rest it in direct sunlight for about an hour at least once every month or so to 'recharge' it. It's the *******. (Do young people still say stuff like that? lol)
