Sunroof?

No sunroof either. Pretty plain jane SSV Tahoe. Checked the firewall, E-brake cable housing, weather stripping, windshield seal, any way it might be trickling in from the passenger side...I'm stumped. Pretty convinced the previous owner had a third key fob and has been breaking into my garage and pouring a cup of water in my floorboard. Or it has a ghost that pisses itself every time I unlock the doors.

This guy spells it all out pretty good.

It basically bolts right into the 3/4 ton GMT900 because they use the exact same chassis as the GMT800.

Ok, this is effin me up.

The video from that thread from March sounds nearly exactly like what I have going on right now;

Now, I have the lifter chatter....working on that...but this more severe knocking is what is really ruining my week as of late. I recently had my exhaust manifolds replaced at a muffler joint.....I'm wonder if something is rattling, and its not internal to the motor. It has this banging from like 700ish-1100ish RPMs, and then goes away. Like its a resonant rattle at the right frequency. Just considered that this evening, and its funny you posted that video. More to discover on that one.

Makes the Burb look small... lol

Also took her to see an old Dam. Notice the old cast iron turbine they have on display in the middle of the parking lot... it weighs 43 tons, built in 1939... they don't make 'em like that anymore.

Changed the oil and filter, rotated the tires, and did a once over while underneath.

This is the first time doing an oil change on the Denali XL for me. The GMC dealership did one before I bought it and they put on the little windshield sticker 12/18 or 105k. I bought it with 101k on it and it just hit 105k yesterday. The oil life monitor was reading 33%.

They had the PF48 filter on there and man that thing is small! On my 2001 with the 5.3l I use the Mobil1 206A filter and it's almost twice as long. I noticed there was plenty of space for a longer filter, so I used a Mobil1 212. I also use Mobil1 5w30 high mileage oil.

While under there I took a good look over the whole underside of the vehicle. Everything looked good and pretty clean, but I noticed water dripping in two spots from the exhaust. One was on the backside of the muffler and the other was the front side of the resonator. There appeared to be weep holes at the bottom. Are these supposed to be there? cbcc15f9b4301733689932d8c2831af3.jpg56075f038569b4fb102936b5f9404565.jpg

Yes, those are supposed to be there. Mine OLM shows in the 30% range after about 5K miles. Just about 4K now and it shows 78%, go figure.

I run plain old M1 5W30 and the M1-212A filter or the K&N HP2011 with the big nut on the bottom to make removal easier.

My tire rotation looks like it will be a two day process!
