Used these washers between the plate and frame just because.

Here’s a better shot of the seal’s profile, although compressed.

I’m thinking this may work as a replacement to go all the way down the door.

They all break....mines broken. The shield is aluminum and fatigues....

Being repeatedly heated and cooled tends to fatigue certain metals - then add road vibration and high speed wind gusts and you get the picture.
