You can thank the oil companies. They charge what they can, and have been exposed admitting they don’t want to drill the thousands of open permits they have in the US, they want supply to stay low so they can make more record profits.

Not if the tech did his job properly. That'd be part of the "visual" inspection, anything not OE or CARB approved basically... although I am going to leave the catch an and see what happens.
No one in their right mind should fail that...it's literally making the engine run cleaner by not burning those vapors through the engine.

If they fail it from that, I can undo two hose clamps and move one hose and it'll be "stock"
Damn, that's gotta suck.

Well, got about a hundred miles on it so far, everything is ready except for the EVAP system...

Sort of running out of time here, not sure if it needs more cycles or if I do have an issue even though there's been no check engine light.

Most states allow one monitor to not be set. Differentiate between being "ready" and being "complete."

It looks like your evap is ready to test, it just needs the specific drive cycle to complete the test. There are very specific conditions for the test to take place -- don't quote me on the specifics -- things like the fuel tank being between 1/8 and 7/8 full (some people recommend 1/4 to 3/4), a cold start where the IAT and the coolant temp are within 8 or 10 degrees, two speed cycles up to 55 mph, then coast down to 25 mph without using the brakes (or something like that, without getting run over). Anyway, it's not going to test unless all the conditions are met, and if your check engine light isn't on you should be good to go.
