Does anyone know if a brake controller has to have a trailer plugged into the rear of the vehicle in order to turn on? I have this Draw-Tite 2 in this truck but all I get is a single red dot if I push the manual slide to the left. No percentage in the display like I see online.
doesn't do anything if there is no trailer connected as far I remember I had a similar one in my 03

I do believe the controller needs to see the trailer brake circuit in order to be activated.
That makes sense. So in order to test it other than on a bench, I’d need a trailer that has electric brakes, correct?

if you know the pinout or (look it up) on the trailer connector you could probably get away with connecting a incandescent bulb the way like he does in the video, that simulates a load and should make it operate for testing, or just swing by a rental place that looks not busy and ask if you could plug in a trailer to test your controller.
if you look in the engine compartment at the front of the fuse box there is 2 post's there and each one should have a red wire attached, 1 is to power the controller and the other is to power a trailer.

The wires are there. Not a clean job lol. Also I noticed when I was checking under the hood before I bought the truck there’s a single battery but it’s in the secondary battery location, and no battery in the normal one. I don’t see any battery cables in the normal place to install a second one. Ever see this? It looks like this was set up for heavy duty towing.

ya that's all normal on the gmt900's they swapped things around, maybe the silverado was already modified when you bought it? figured you would already be familiar
looks like you need a fuse box cover or did you pop it off?
what's the history of this thing? looks like it spent some time in the rust belt that power steering pump and line is looking nasty and some frame rust?
check your brake lines

Aftermarket running boards!

I have a similar wrinkle on the right corner of the rear bumper. Proof that parking assist is useless!

someone hit it in the parking lot? literally just happened to my other car. I was sitting in it at the time. older lady got out and was like oh I'm sorry. I guess I should look when I'm backing up. she didn't care at all. I was kinda taken back. she's like I was looking over there not backwards. joked it has a back up cam and she didn't look at it. even said her kids get in accidents about once a year.

annoying. I haven't had to deal with insurance crap in atleast 20 years. I guess some people just get used to being horrible drivers.

Mirrors can't see around the outside corner (when turning).
I was backing into an angled parking spot once, making the sharp turn, and hit a power pole! I got super lucky and only destroyed my taillight! I won't attempt that again..

Really need a wider angle backup camera..

I'm pretty set on getting one of the wolf box 900 pro to try out. Just need to find the time to install it haha. hate to buy it and it sets around for months
