Friday: Cleaned and recharged Volant filter, long overdue. You could tell the difference a clean air filter makes, Tahoe felt way lighter. Replaced PCV valve and hose just because I got both for $13.

Today: Flushing the radiator. I've been running a mix of water and two bottles of Prestone flesh and cleaner for the past 300 miles with the heater on. Will drain, fill with water and run ten minutes after warm and then drain again. Repeat until drained water is clear. Replacing thermostat and radiator cap. Filling up with Prestone green and throwing in some AC Delco cooling system seal tablets.

Usually a seal fails because the bearing it is protecting is failing, might want to look into that.

Found some play in the rear of the drive shaft. Replaced the U-joint, still some play. Looks like I'll be getting a new knuckle put on as one side is wallowed out a bit. Thankfully there is a local shop that redoes them and rebalances them.

Today I'm getting a new driveshaft built because surprise, surprise, the idiot before me not only dented mine, he put in one that didn't match up so there was a little too much yoke sticking out of the seal which caused a very slow tranny leak. So for $165, I get my yoke reconditioned and a new plug put in it, a new shaft, new u-joints and a truck that doesn't leak. While my truck was down, my husband decided to go ahead and replace my dash. I found a solid dash at LKQ and after an afternoon of work, we got it out in one piece and only paid $51.55 for it. So he ripped my old, busted, cracked, missing pieces dash out last night. He's gonna clean all of the dust/dried mud out that we can see, replace my heater core and put the new dash in. My new steering box and rag joint goes in on Saturday and what started out as a $2500 truck will now have WAY too much money into it but will drive and run like it's new.

The benefits of living 15min from Summit Racing - Found a set of Flowtech shorty headers on the discount rack, silver ceramic coated, for half off retail. Didn't realize they were having a sale so I got another 20-25% off of that. No gaskets or hardware but I think I can manage :)

Got in my opt-7 LED high beams earlier, installed and wired up the 4hi mod using a relay, just in time for Easter at the lake, freakin love it! 4f9b2d66fcbee8c5d7f66ee4e2961c87.jpg
