There is a big problem in this area of dealers posing as individual sellers. I always prefer to by from an owner of the vehicle. Most of those are high miles though. The low mileage is what attracted me to this rig and I knew the price was too steep but I thought maybe he would negotiate. Coming from $9900 to $9200 is not realistic at all and I know that.

Sometimes it’s tough to play “the waiting game”, especially when there’s a dealer involved. They wanna buy low and sell high, that’s how they keep the lights on. But more often than not, they start asking for all the money and turn down decent deals. But if the vehicle is still there after a month or so they start adjusting their expectations. They have to move the vehicle to free up the $$. And there’s always “the other buyer” baloney. Good luck with whatever you do.

chances are they never will lower the price.

when i was camaro shopping. i found one at the local ford dealership, they wanted like 21 for it. it had hi miles, bad tires, bad brakes and the body was not 100%, i offered 16k they said no, and no they would not put tires or brakes on it. i left. i searched this cars vin and found out it was there for 3 years. so went back a month later, cars was still there offered the 16 k again they said no again lol told him look you've had this car in stock here for 3 plus years, is it not time to sell it? they said no to 16k again. i left again, never to return....

to show how small a world it is, the car i did buy at a chevy dealer was owned by the father of the guy who owned the ford dealer that was local. the chevy dealer at least worked some on the price.

i should swing by there some time. i told the salesman my plans for it, and the plans are done.

I can't stand people trying to sell something for more than it's worth. Looking at the original window sticker, I don't think this thing even has a locking rear end. It's nice looking, for sure... But it's just not worth that price, no matter where it's located. It's worth 6k, you have to step back and realize it's 3 generations old, and there are another 200,000 of them out there for sale

His whole thing is that it is rare and low mileage. The rare part is the paint job, in his eyes. He calls it a Unicorn. The thing he does not acknowledge in the ad is that the hood has a dent in it just above the driver's side headlight and about 8" toward the center. It's right where the front lip of the hood curls down at the front. My Tahoe has no dents. In the ad pics the glare of the sun hides the dent. At $7k offer I gave him based off of KBB, he says is too low because CarFax says is worth more.

I am not gonna waste my time and efforts with this. I just check every now and then.

I am still trying to negotiate with the guy who owns this Suburban. I am planning on getting a hitch trailer for traveling with.
