i just got off the phone with TransGo, it takes what ever shifter you have and converts it to manual, so for us. 1 would be 1st, 2 would be 2nd, 3 would be 3rd, and OD would be 4th. and it holds the gear (no up or down shift)

so its an automatic manual. so no need for the clutch.

while it sounds cool. It would be really annoying to up and down shift all the time.

ohhh...so if I was to leave it in (D)...it would be like starting from a green light in 4th gear...it would bog out?

From what it sounds like yes.

also 2 on the gear shifter starts you out in 2. I do this all the time when its wet out in the silverado to keep the rear wheels from breaking free.

The shift linkage was not made for that constant activity.

Here is a link to the electric version which requires wiring, but you don't have to crack open the tranny.

I see these on ebay from time to time, going for $250 -450.

You can add your paddle shifter to it and be able to switch back and forth from auto to manual. :)
