first off - I did search. Unfortunately, searching for BOSE brought back WAAAAY to much stuff.

All I am looking for is, what does having this BOSE system provide me.
From my readings, I am aware of a sub in the center console. I assume then that there is a factory amp?
I have added radios before following the simple wiring harness diagrams. If I add an aftermarket head unit with 2 or 3 pre-amp outputs, am I covering everything I need to cover?

I don't think there is a sub in the center console. Look inside the rear hatch on the drivers side. If you have a sub it should be there. For reference, my Bose sysem does NOT have one there. I've been in the center console as well in the past, and didnt' see one in there either. I'll be in there again in the next few days to troubleshoot my radio short issue. I'll let you know what I found.

BTW, welcome to the boards!

What I posted is correct. It is probably the 6.5" "sub" like they put in the NNBS.

it says "OnStar® Radio Replacement Interface for Select General Motors Vehicles with Bose System"

I have onstar, but I don't intend to use it. Do I still need this extra module?

nevermind - I think I answered my question when I read the product description...

Retains the function of OnStar® and Bose amplified audio system when the factory radio is replaced. Generates all safety warning chimes.

well, that kills that. No way am I spending $170 + the cost of a new head unit. I don't need it that bad

for me - it's still just not worth it.My only reason to change the headunit is to play music through an MP3. I'll find another way around that.
