I like the SS cover. My one gripe with it is since it mounts over the factory cover, its not flush with the fenders on the sides. Aggressive look for sure though.

Oh wow, I really don't like the sound of that. I found a hybrid front number without grille or inserts locally.

Now I just need to price out the hood, brackets for bumper, grille and inserts.

Just for the record, I did a lot of the research but I never actually pulled the trigger cause I ended up trading her. But yes the hood is aluminum.

In your research was the grill straight swap?

Nope, the grilles are bumper specific. For example I could not use regular Tahoe grilles on my truck.

The ones you see in my thread are Grillcraft overlays, the regular Hybrid ones are a horizontal black fin type design.

This is a possibility for me... It would be less expensive especially since I could still use a tahoe hood rather than the hybrid hood I would have to get for the hybrid bumper.

How's the fit with the street scene bumper?

the ss bumper cover fits over the outside of the oem lower cover. The upper grille is still oem. The sides of the bumper cover can be adjusted in by loosening a small inner bracket at the joint between the fender and bumper. A screw in the wheel well facing forward at the joint can be moved inward to adjust the flushness of the cover. You then push the sides of the bumper in to flush with the fender and tighten it down for an acceptable fit. It is only as good as the workmanship of the installer.

I spent a lot of time installing mine. Had it painted by body shop but put it on myself. Also installed the matching side skirts making my own mounting brackets instead of screws and tape.

Of course the cost is about 1/2 of a new oem but you only get 1/2 of the bumper.

I don't like the idea of the front cover. Regardless I need to change the whole bumper and hood in my situation.

I just got off the phone with a local dealsership, the tahoe hybrid hood is $795 and the upper grilles come in at $435 with the lowers at $291... CRAZY prices. Aside from a Junkyard, does anyone have an idea where I could find that damn hood for less?

I have a local guy that has the bumper, just need hood, grille, inserts and brackets.

EDIT: found it a tad less here, but still, haha. http://www.chevroletonlineparts.com...0l-v8-electric-flex-engine/body-cat/hood-****

ALSO, Soulsea, in your research what did you find about swappable parts? I know you were doing it backwards, but for instance, do you have any idea if the Hood Stop Buffer and Hood Latch and releases swap on over? I would think it matches and the only difference is that the hood sticks out a little further.

I'm almost certain that the jood latch is exactly the same because the frame is the same, so other than the sheetmetal sticking out further the positioning is the same. Iirc correctly the plastic cover that goes over the radiator is a little different but that shouldn't affect anything.

The best way to investigate this stuff is by litterally standing there and endlessly staring at the two vehecles sise by side and measuring differences. It was easier for me to do that because there were plenty of regular Tahoes around for me to compare my truck to ... I used to just go to the dealership I was friends with and ask them to just pop the hoood on a Hoe on the lot and look around for an hour. Whereas for you it is more difficult to find a hybrid to do this work. But if you could locate one I think it will help you a lot. For the same reason the conversion would have been easier for me, because as you're finding out there are a lot more regular tahoe spare parts floating around than hyrid ones.

I'm currently waiting to hear back on a regular replacement hood and bumper for my rig.

If it's anywhere near what I could do the hybrid swap for I'll probably just end up going hybrid. I'm hoping that aside from the bare bumper and hood that the necessary parts wont be too expensive. That grille will be hard to come by for a decent price for sure.

Hood latch is exactly the same. The prices of those items are pretty standard across the board for OEM parts. The nice thing about OEM is you KNOW the fitment will be spot on, and it will be a quality product.
