calculations are assuming a manual transmission with a 1:1 ratio. If you drive an automatic your RPMs will be slightly higher, and the opposite is true if you have overdrive. mathematically the differences will be so small that this chart will be very close on both

That's just not true, man. Essentially what you're saying is that you wouldn't notice a difference on the tach driving your rig at 60 mph in 3rd or OD. You have to know that's not right.

there is a MORE SIGNIFICANT mathematical difference between the 1:1 of 3rd in say a TH350 and the .70 OD/4th gear of say a 700R4 or 4L60E. With a 4.56 gear, 4L60E transmission and 34" of tire, given 60 mph, 3rd gear (1:1) tachs at 3700 rpm, and OD (.7) tachs at about 2600 rpm. That's 1100 rpm's.

You are comparing to separate transmissions under the same rpm specs. I assumed you would be keeping your original trans. this chart will get you back close to the org RPMs on the transmission you have in the truck. the 2 examples you gave would be different with stock gears as well and would be put back inline with a gear change. the mathematic differences I was taking about are in the change or rpms on different transmissions.

man rpms on with 3.73 gears and a 32" tire at 65mph will be 2546 if you want to swap to 35s you would swap to 4.56 gears to get you right at 2845 rpms that is a difference of 299 rpms AOD will have much lower stock rpms on a 32" tire with 3.73s at 65mph 1782 and with 4.56s and a 35" tire it will be 1992 that is a 210 rpm difference. this is the difference I was speaking of that is 89 rpms difference between the 2 that is very insignificant in my book
