What happens when you just say NO to TPMS...??

Ok I know some people like TPMS - I hate it, its dumb imo, wish it didn't exist, only because I pay attention to my tires and pressure everyday.... the vehicle owner should have a choice to use TPMS or not to, should be a "SWITCHED" option (On or Off)

Thats my quick disclaimer for anyone wondering why after I asked my question.

Question:

What happens if I switch wheels and tires and do not put the tpms sensor valves back in? Will it just say "Service Tire Monitor" on my D.I.C.?

If so Im good with that, one reason being I have my chimes disabled so I don't hear anything and I know you can just hit the odo/trip meter button to clear it off the D.I.C. and just look at your odo or trip.


Any help here is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That's exactly what happens... I will say it gets old after a while. The yellow tire pressure light comes one the cluster, and the dic flashes service tire pressure or something. It flashes a few times then just stays solid.

My stock wheels had them in it. When I bought my current wheels they didn't. After a year of dealing with the message, I just paid $200 to discount tire when I bought new tires for all new sensors. It was worth it to me just to get rid of the messages. I to have my chimes bypassed.

I have read that with tech 2 the tpms can be turned off if it was made pre 1/1/2006. I believe that is when it was mandatory. If it is true I have no clue.

I think I have a dead sensor now because I get the "Service Tire Monitor" thing now on the DIC. No other lights - I was curious if I dump TPMS all together if any other light will come one - my new wheels will be delivered tomorrow so Im trying to decide on what to do. So if I don't keep my TPMS valves will the yellow light come on or just the DIC message?

Ive been calling around...nobody knows, they say they can't - Im still searching, I have a buddy who's a tech with a Tech 2 but he's gone for a few weeks...

Can you toggle thru the different tires to see which one is bad? The bad one will show ---- or 0 PSI on the D.I.C.

I don't have steering wheels controls - I cannot see which is dead.... I can just clear the "Service tire monitor" message

My 2004 won't show which one is low. Get the message and that's it. When you do the reset procedure the one that is dead I would think would not honk.

Does anyone know without a doubt if I just don't use the sensors at all... will I just get the "Service Tire Monitor" on the DIC. I can handle that. I just don't want that orange light to come on - I hate that thing. I should of yanked that bulb when I had it apart

Lol you get both on... sorry. I'm the other way around, I didn't mind the yellow light too much, it was the dic message that annoyed me. Had to keep pushing it to see where my mileage was. But both will be on if you have a faulty sensor or have no sensors at all.

Like I said, it was worth the $200 to me to get rid of both lights lol. People have spent far more to get rid of a light on the cluster lol.

Im wondering because I am pretty sure I have a faulty sensor, my orange light works but its not illuminated, just the DIC message....

I lowered the air way down today and the light came on, filled the tires back up, light went out but still get "Service Tire Monitor" on the DIC..... So Im at a loss at the moment
