yes it's coming from the pinion, it spins really fast the grease then flys out in a complete circle, then the wind hits it and blows it all over everywhere, then the dirt sticks to it and ya just a big mess, on the plus side "less rust"

those other parts in your pictures is the evap canister and evap solenoid for the gas tank fumes which you may have to replace at some point if you have trouble filling the gas tank at the pump they release the gas fumes, it's just a bunch of EPA crap. nothing to worry about unless your getting a evap code or can't fill the gas tank without restarting the pump multiple times.

Well I got the truck back from the shop. They charged me $100.00 to replace the seal. I’ll keep an eye out for further leaks.
keep an eye on it for a few weeks, if it starts to leak again then there is play is in the pinion. good luck
