What is this on my instrument panel?

Does anyone know what the bottom left, below the message center, part of the stock Tahoe instrument cluster is for? I've read through the owners manual, searched forums, and still have no clue.
After owning my Tahoe for a year, nothing has ever showed up on there. I know that on other clusters, that's where the Trans Temp is at.

It's nothing more than a cover. Nothing behind it. The good news is if you upgrade the cluster to one with a transmission temp gauge, it will work as soon as you plug it in.

Thanks for the answer. That's just pretty dumb & lazy.
I'm still trying to figure out the situation of putting in my other instrument cluster. I started a thread about that. The local dealership quoted me $450 dollars to do that. I wouldn't mind being able to use the Trans Temp on that cluster.

Man we need a sticky for the escalade cluster on this forum, every other question on the interior part is about it.
