What makes the parking brake disable itself upon putting in gear?

When I park in my driveway that has a slight incline the parking brake automatically engages. Sometimes when I go to back out of the driveway it disengages as soon as switch out of park but not all the time. Why does the parking brake sometimes disengage automatically and other times doesn't?

Also want to know this. Our driveway is on an incline/decline and the parking brake auto sets every time but never auto insets until you push the gas which makes the car lurch forward when it releases.

well... my unscientific partly guessing answer is.. it's probably being held under a load and is unable to release until the pressure from the load is changed, it's a electronic actuator and is probably not all that strong so in other words it is probably getting bound up a little which is probably normal operation. you might find related information in the owners manual under the parking brake section.

As soon as you tap the gas it releases…kid of like a “hill holder”….
Yes it works when doing that but sometimes it disengages just by me putting it in neutral as I usually do to roll into the street.
