I have a 97 Yukon 5.7 2dr that I would like to upgrade the tranny in. The truck is not going to be used for off-road use at all so I am not looking for an off-road setup. I am looking for a great transmission setup that will get-up and go when I want it too? The stock tranny is fine but the get-up and go is slow. Can someone please point me in the right direction of what I am looking for??? Any and all advice is highly appreciated!!!

Mods consist of headers and full Magnaflow exhaust system, plus a/c eliminator pulley if this makes any difference. Future mods are hood with functioning ram air and upgrade to main power and ground supply.

Thanks in advance for anyone's help!!!

Get it rebulit with a transgo kit and some stronger friction materials and servo and you should be good.

Thanks, do you know of a good place to get the kit and what exactly do you mean by stronger friction materials? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I am not a tranmission person, not even much of a truck person, I build full turbo setups for hondas and eclipses, so my knowledge of mechanics is based on mostly imports. I plan to some day turbo the Yukon but that's a ways ahead in the future.

unknown at this time.
any good tranny shop can recommend and get the stuff for you. For the friction stuff there are ones that use Kevlar material to make them stronger for a tighter grip and longer wear times.

Along with the other trans upgrades, add a higher stall speed T/C if you actually want it go have more "go". That is the only trans mod that can increase the torque multiplication...........:)
