Along with the other trans upgrades, add a higher stall speed T/C if you actually want it go have more "go". That is the only trans mod that can increase the torque multiplication...........:)

I apologize in advance....I'm about to thread-jack....

95TwinTT - could you look at this LINK please?

I think that I'd also like a new higher stall TC, but I would like to stay with GM products and not go to crazy, just a smidgeon over stock. I'm not making boost anything, so I don't think I need very much. Maybe just the s-10 TC in that link? I know nothing abou tthis, but I'm liking what I'm reading!

What are your thoughts?

BTW to keep on topic :D
jongraack, I would also recommend a tune with 100% TM reduction.

The problem with using stock TC’s is that they do not incorporate the “new technology”. They have been around for years and they are made for specific applications.

Recent developments in design of the turbine and stator, allows higher stall speeds, while acting like stock TC’s for normal driving. The cheap high stall speed TC’s often just have the turbine and stator spaced apart a small amount. It does allow the higher stall speed, but there is no gain in efficiency. At the same time, they slipped all the time, and sounded like a city bus.

I have a 4500 rpm stall converter in my Tahoe and it totally acts like a stock converter when “***** footing” around town. The only time it comes alive is if I get on it.

If you go for a stock GM converter, with a few hundred rpm higher stall, I would guess you will not notice the difference.

You are trying to launch a 5-6000 pound truck, so if your in a hurry, let the engine get up into the power range while in the “zoom mode”.

These are the guys I always use. They can provide you with the exact match for your truck, that does exactly what you want it to do. They are higher quality than anything you can get from GM.

This isn’t rocket science. It’s pure physics. Your engine puts out peak power obviously in the higher rpm’s, so the further you can get into that power band, the quicker the three tons of steel will move………..:)

The 4l60e trans used in the Tahoe is a good unit and with reasonable care will easily go 160k miles without a rebuild.

That being said this assumes the owner replaces the fluid and filter as specified by GM and operates the vehicle in a reasonable fashion. However, if you intend heavy duty operation I would suggest the following mods:

Corvette servo, upgraded clutches, heavy duty 5 pinion planetary, super servo 4th gear cover, heavy duty sun shell and upgraded sprags.

You could also just send you trans to Monster Transmissions and they will build you one that would be just about impossible for you to destroy with a stock Vortec 5.7 engine!

Knowing that you have a bullet proof transmission is a great feeling but you can easily drop a ton of change of something you may not need!

Regards,

Ok, thanks for your insight!

Youve talked me out of a minor upgrade. Go big or go home.
I'm gonna hit up MCP for a quote.

Thanks again!
