I have a 96 4 door Tahoe that has a few minor dents. I'm looking at having it painted the same color it is now. Would you know what the average price would be? Thank you for any help.:)

One pointer is you'll save yourself a large chunk of money if you got it all prepped for paint (dents fixed, primered, yada, yada, yada) then had it sprayed by someone.

If you just dropped it off like it was it'll probably cost you $5k or more. If you had all the prep work largely done before you dropped it off and just had it sprayed it'd probably more like $2k or so. This is just based on the experience I had when restoring my '77. I got my first quote just dropping it off "as-is". Decided I didn't wanna spend that much so did all the body work and prep myself then dropped it off again for it to be sprayed and it was MUCH cheaper! Anyway, just and idea

I have to agree with 07Burb. Another thing, if you are gonna go with the same color that will save you some money as well. If you do a color change, then you have to paint all the door jambs. Most shops charge at the very least 100 bucks for each door. And on a 4 door Tahoe that's 6 including the rear cargo doors.

Do you think the prep is really hard for someone who hasn't done it before?

bill in your sig pic your paint looks like it's in good shape, if you don't have any bad scratches or heavy creases i'd look into the paintless dent removal. they can work wonders and with a little buffing and such you'd never know it was there. MUCH MUCH cheaper than bodywork. and if the paint is salvageable, i'd consider just wetsanding and fresh clearcoat.

Not hard....just takes a willingness to learn. Before I did my 77 I'd never done it before either. So be willing to learn and be patient with it and you'll be fine. Once you do it you'll such a since of accomplishment and you'll be very proud of the work you did!!! I say go for it man!

Yeah my uncle owns a body shop and with a family discount he quoted me 3Gs... all the prep, door jams, door dings. He said on average he is charging 4-6 grand for full paint jobs.
