I think it depends on what you want to do. If you plan on modding the truck CPO extended warranty won't mean too much. If you plan on leaving it stock and running it until you got 100k miles on the truck then I would probably go with the 09 and get it certified. I know there wasn't a 'huge' difference in 09's and 11's as far as features, and if I could extend my warranty until 100k I would be all over it.

What is the year they will extend the warranty to? Because now I think about it, my CPO is until next year or 100k and mine is a 2010. Extended warranty won't mean too much if it is only this year...

This is going to be wife's vehicle with the kids. 2011 difference is aux input for stereo. Pass and driver side airbags and I think something with the Bluetooth

Here is what i would do. I would offer the private party owner 34,000 and use that extra 2000 to put toward a warranty. That 2011 might be under warranty for only a few more miles so the extra warranty will come in handy.

See if that works and tell the owner that if they dont take the deal you are headed to buy the 2009. Maybe it will work in your favor. You never know how bad someone wants to sell their car.

They are firm on 36k which I think is still a good deal

It is a good deal. That is about what they would get if they traded it in. I think it comes down to how important the warranty is to you. If its not that big a deal then go with the 2011 but if you want to have a little piece of mind then the 09 with the warranty would be the way to go.
