Wheel Offset explained??

Hi guys, hoping somebody can help me understand wheel offset. If my truck ('07 Suburban) has 20x9 wheels with a +30 offset, and I were to install a set of 22x9.5 with a +30 offset, would the extra .5 inch be inboard or outboard?

tl;dr Both

Offset is the hub mounting surface distance from centerline.

Backspace is inside rim face to hub mounting surface.

offset is measured from the centerline of the wheel. If you install a .5in wider wheel with the same offset you will end up with .25 more backspace.
