Hi All:

Been driving myself crazy about finding a set of wheels for my wife's Tahoe. She complains her tahoe looks like everyone elses and looks like a livery vehicle. She loves black 22" wheels and like an aggressive look. She takes our 2017 tahoe out on the beach several times a week (we have a drive on beach) so I want to make sure whatever I get her is good in the sand. I think I've settled on Nitto Terra Grapplers 285/45R22 on a set of Escalade reproduction wheels https://www.amazon.com/22x9-Wheels-...88569&sr=8-1&keywords=oe+wheels+llc+22"+black . looks like the OEWheels site is down but this is what I'm going for. Questions:

  • Should I go with 305s instead? Looks like they are ~.6" taller - would I have to replace the spare tire as well? My wife is known for finding curbs so I'd like to protect these wheels as much as possible. I do have a wheel and tire warranty on the vehicle (already used in under 3k miles due to a sidewall puncture (nail).
  • Any warranty issues if I go with 305s?
  • Any lift needed on the front end? How difficult is it to add the Maxx Suspension level kit? Sounds like 2" is the best to go with?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I think 285/45/22 is a little small for the K2xx trucks. Go with 305/45/22. For that size, you may need a 2" front level. They're not too difficult to install if you have some mechanical experience, it's a spacer that goes underneath the shock. You need to separate the lower ball joint to install. Or should be no more than 3-4 hours labor at a shop. Just remember that an alignment is required after a level. That said, I think some guys may be running 305/45s stock. Do a search and see if you find anything.

Yeah, running a 305 on one side and a 285 spare on the other will eat up your diff real quick. Would be best to get the same size spare unless you have towing on your insurance that you could use to tow to a tire shop and get another 305.

The wheel you linked is a NNBS style wheel, which I think look kind of off on newer Tahoes/Yukons. I would get a reproduction 2015+ 22" wheel instead.

As for the warranty issues, I can't answer that but I'm sure someone will chime in.

I have 285/60R18 on my 2004 Yukon, tread looks like it would do well in sand. Toyo 285/60R18 116V Proxes S/TII that has a tread pattern that looks like this https://www.screencast.com/t/alpzpwYBC or your website https://www.performanceplustire.com/tires-for-sale/toyo-tires/proxes-st-ii-performance-tire/ also larger wheels https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whe...tandard&wheelFinish=Black+Painted&showRear=no This tire size and wheel needs Incognito extend control arm on the front to avoid tire rub. I get a lot of compliments on my rig.

PS as she gets higher off the pavements her ability to see and avoid curb damage gets harder.
